Marketing Tools - Triberr

Triberr is a social marketing tool that is free. It can be a bit complicated, so I'm going to try to make it easy to understand the basics.

To use Triberr you need a blog and a twitter account. At the heart of Triberr, it uses Twitter to broadcast your blog articles on the Internet. So what makes Triberr different? It's a sharing platform, giving you access to a broader audience.

Triberr has its own terminology. When you join, you become a tribe of one, but you need to seek out other members who have similar blogging interests so you can join their tribe. Joining a tribe costs "bones." (Triberr money) You get 100 bones when you join and I understand there are opportunities to earn bones as well, or you can buy them.

I joined Triberr, filled in my bio, added my Twitter account and plugged in my blog's URL. I joined a few tribes and learned I have a reach of over 30,000.

The bulk of the work is done in the "tribal stream." You'll see your blogs along with blogs from your tribe mates. Click "approve" and Triberr will release these as "Tweets" on Twitter in 20 minute increments. If you've got a tribe of 10 people and you're all tweeting each other's posts, then you've expanded your reach.

A note: Tweets sent by Triberr have a "goo.gl" signature.

That's Triberr in a nutshell. It's a social marketing tool that expands the number of people you can reach on the net. 5 minutes a day (to approve posts of your tribe mates) on a consistent basis should give you opportunities you may not have had before. You don't have to hang out on Triberr like you do on FB, Yahoo Groups, or Twitter, but it can be effective once you learn the ropes.

Any questions, comments, feedback, tips about Triberr are welcomed.

  1. So to really makes this social network site work, you must accumulate "bones" or buy them?

    1. Vivian, you get a 100 bones when you join and I've found to join a tribe it's 15 bones. Mind you, I've joined maybe 5 tribes and I've got a reach now of over 100,000. I'm starting to see my tribemates share my blog posts and while I haven't seen an increase in posts per se, I'm encouraged that I am reaching out a bit more. I'll have more to say after a month I think. My friend Barbara Edwards says seen real results with her Triberr efforts.

  2. There's also the Triberr app so when you approve a post, it doesn't say it comes from Triberr, but rather whatever you designate, so my Triberr approval tweets all say they came via "Terry's Place"

    1. Monti, hope it helps. Triberr takes some time, but if you're interested, I can share a "getting started" PDF.

  4. It's a bit complicated to get yourself set up but if you end up totally flummoxed, you can delete your account and start again. Thankfully that's easy. I'm there as a tribe of 1 and as a member of the loveahappyending tribe which was set up by one of the other members.

It doesn't take long (with or without using bones) to multiply your reach. I've got 100 bones since I joined and haven't used any yet, and my reach is almost 35,000.

It's not just your blog's URL tht you have to include when you're setting up your account, but also the RSS feeds link.

Now if I could only figure out the Karma badge...

I'll look you up there, Steph.

    1. Melanie, LOL!! I haven't figured out the karma badge either. Maybe I have the wrong one. I agree - it doesn't take long to multiply your reach. Look me up on triberr. I'd be honored to join your tribe. I'm "Stephanie Burkhart."

  5. My best tip is to make sure that all your blog titles are interesting and engaging, so they'll attract clicks. Don't make your titles vague or too short. Give the visitor an idea of what your post is about or intrigue them. There are so many boring titles that come through my stream. e.g. News weekend ended 22 Jul. that doesn't give me a hint about what the post is about.

You also have the option to go in an edit titles from within Triberr. I do this if I have time so my tweets look a little different from everyone else's.

  7. I agree, interesting. Thanks for the tip. Another great 'reaching' marketing tool is StumbleUpon. It's in the Share It gadget on Blogger and can bring a significant amount of traffic to your site. All you do is Share your post to it.
