I learned enough to do a layout in one day, with no manual. But there are a lot of hidden tricks too that I learned over time.

I'll coach ya ;P. I need a second assistant ... lol.Aidana WillowRavenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04457009991712387399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925401174378785919.post-22300325167197170452011-08-22T08:37:22.935-05:002011-08-22T08:37:22.935-05:00I tried to comment on this yesterday but Blogger w...I tried to comment on this yesterday but Blogger was having hiccups.

I really appreciated this article for several reasons. First it is an insight into the hard work ( and complicated) that designers do. Second it is a really great way to look over the shoulder of someone who is using In Design. I really hope to be able to afford that program soon as it will really help in the illustration process. I especially liked the way you define negative space before you compose an illustration.

Although I go about this differently, I think trying your method is going to be on my to-do list. Thanks for the wonderful post!

My layouts usually end up as a PDF for the printer with crop marks... but ID is such a neat program that is also on my list *:)Ginger*:)https://www.blogger.com/profile/14970160779830842600noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925401174378785919.post-82681043887738974612011-08-19T15:11:13.581-05:002011-08-19T15:11:13.581-05:00I'm always amazed at how often I have artists ...I'm always amazed at how often I have artists submit art at the wrong size or don't have enough room for text. If they'd learn to do their own design, even if just for the planning process, it would save so much time, re-work, and money (supplies are expensive, whether digital or traditional tools are used).Aidana WillowRavenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04457009991712387399noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2925401174378785919.post-59785984993726425672011-08-19T14:22:13.758-05:002011-08-19T14:22:13.758-05:00I started promoting this article but never left a ...I started promoting this article but never left a comment, sorry.

As I mentioned to you, even I can design and do layouts, maybe not in ID, but I can do them in Word, of all things. It's not that hard to learn and to do. I didn't have any text and/or images clash or cover the other. I can look at a layout and know if something doesn't or won't work.

VivianVivian Zabelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06129178812565073972noreply@blogger.com
